hi, take a breath —

Life can be quite challenging. But your mind is a strong and flexible tool. You already have the wisdom you need to navigate through uncertainty and change. You just need someone to show you how.

Hello! I'm Anshita Baruah

Counselling Psychologist · Hypnotherapist · Founder of Sakalya

At Sakalya, I offer a safe space where your mind, body, and soul are cared for together and not as three separate projects, but as one whole person walking through therapy with me.

I believe healing happens when you feel safe to be seen, heard, and understood. My approach is compassionate, holistic, and rooted in genuine human connection.

Sakalya means wholeness in Sanskrit, and that's the heart of my work: helping you find your way back there.

— the short version. the long version has more of my questionable humour.

my approach

Holistic and person-centred. Not just about the mind.

I work eclectically. This means that I use whatever approach actually suits you. I do lean heavily on Gestalt, ACT, and somatic work, with CBT and narrative therapy also in the mix when they're useful.

Gestalt keeps us in the present- what's happening for you right now, in this room, in your body- instead of only picking apart the past. ACT helps you make room for difficult thoughts and feelings instead of wrestling them into submission, while still taking action that lines up with what actually matters to you. And somatic work goes straight to the body, because patterns don't just live in your head. They live in your shoulders, your jaw, your breath.

Beyond your mind and body, your environment counts too. The people around you, the spaces you spend your time in, the relationships you're in. All of it shapes how you heal, not just what you eat or how much you sleep.

so what does a session with me actually look like?

I've written a little more about that on the Approach & FAQs page, including how sessions work, what we do together, and some of the questions you might have before getting started.

What clients say

"

I can sum up my experience in therapy in two words: life changing. Anshita made me realise how I am actually and realistically capable of figuring it out for myself. To have a friend and confidante in my therapist, I learnt to regulate my anxiety and I'm ever so grateful to Anshita for holding my hand through the process.

Her ability to create a safe space for open and honest communication is truly remarkable. I have never felt judged or misunderstood. I have experienced eye-opening revelations about myself and my thought patterns. She has helped me uncover deep-rooted issues while offering practical and effective tools to navigate through them.

"

She truly listens not just to what I say, but to what I don't say. The way she helps you figure out your own solutions and find your way through problems really builds your confidence and helps you trust yourself more. She creates a very safe space for therapy, and the best part is that she always reminds me that our bond should be sorted first before trying to solve any issues — it's such an important but often overlooked thing. I'm so glad I found her.

Since I've started therapy with Anshita, I have literally been able to be consistent — I look forward to therapy, I journal my sessions, and even learn new ways to cope with my anxiety, attachment issues, trauma responses and my relationship with myself. Therapy with her has truly helped me move forward and heal — literally heal.
