A little about me

I've always felt things deeply, and that's made me open-minded about people. I'm drawn to understanding what makes us who we are, and I love seeing people grow into more of themselves. That's a big part of why I became a therapist. Having ADHD myself, I'm still learning and navigating my own relationship with my mind. It's something that keeps me curious, humble and human in the work I do. I believe we grow not only through looking inward, but through meaningful relationships and community.

I grew up in Assam in a family of travellers, so exploring has always been part of my life. I love meeting people, immersing myself in different cultures, hearing their stories and coming home feeling like my world has grown a little bigger. Nature, animals and adventure- from surfing and river rafting to the many things still on my list- keep me connected to myself. Spirituality does too.

I've never been very good at choosing just one way to live. Alongside being a therapist, I've explored tarot, volunteered at a hostel in Varkala and helped at the front desk and built communities there, I dance, make art, and take games and quizzes far too seriously. I want to experience as much of life as I can including the meaningful, messy, playful, spiritual and adventurous parts. One day, I'd love to bring that spirit into a retreat where people can reconnect with nature, travel, farm, cook, move, do meaningful group work and grow alongside one another into their highest selves.

Also along the way

Before Sakalya, I trained and worked as an intern with YourDOST, as a trainee counsellor at the Asian Institute of Design, and as a consultant psychologist with Whaterr Solutions. I've also co-hosted workshops for individuals and run mental health trainings for corporates along the way.

I've authored a few papers along the way, one of which was recognised as Best Paper at the Undergraduate Research Conference & 12th Young Psychologist Competition, 2020.

I've also been a guest interviewee on AyushTV, talking through mental health topics on camera. It was quite exciting to experience televised production.
